Edgar Degas (1834–1917), the French artist was born between a wealthy banker and a mother descended from French nobility. He was among the original artists defining Impressionists art in 19th century, and considered to be one of the best in the history of Impressionism. However, to his own objection against this acclaimed reputation, he, himself, had always preferred to be a realist. Throughout his career, among many of his outstanding works, he is famously known for the passion in drawing vivid human body movements, often using young female ballerinas as models.
